Goldsboro - Ms. Aletha Barnes Lewis, 90, completed her earthly assignment on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Willow Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Goldsboro, NC. The celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 1:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC. She will be laid to rest at the Barnes Family Cemetery, 1369 Tommys Road, Goldsboro, NC. There will be a viewing held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC.
She was born on June 25, 1931 in Wayne County, NC to Roy Barnes and Ada Whitley Barnes. Memories will always be cherished by surviving family members:her daughter, Gloria (Alfonza) Edwards; daughter-in-law, M. Evelyn Lewis; Grandchildren: Tiffany Edwards, Angela Fox, Vonnell Lewis, Jr., Vickeye Armstrong, Vanessa Armstrong, Brian Armstrong, and Tonya Lewis; fourteen great grandchildren: Bria Edwards, Robert Bradley ll, Zebedee Williams, Tomarcus Armstrong, Taurean Armstrong, Danny Johnson, Jada Armstrong and Edward "EJ" Walters, Jr. Elijah Joyner, Che/ea Joyner, Caleb Jackson, Brian Armstrong Jr., Jayanna Alston, and Christian Alston, two great great grandchildren: Lathan Ava Bradley and Haylee Armstrong, siblings: Lila Sewell, Emma Yates, and Eddie Barnes, Sr., sister-in-laws: Ethel Mae Barnes, Ethelene Barnes, and Nettie Lewis, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
