Ms. Barbara Ann Thornton's Obituary
Goldsboro - Ms. Barbara Ann Thornton, 82 of 1004-B Olivia Lane, passed on Monday night, October 1, 2018 at Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC. The celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00am at the Original Tabernacle of Prayer, 1005 S. John Street, Goldsboro, NC. She will be laid to rest at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 US Hwy 117 South, Dudley, NC. There will be a viewing held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with the family arriving to receive friends from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC.
She was born on October 25, 1935 in Goldsboro, NC to William Henry and Gladys Strickland Thornton. She leaves to cherish her memories four sisters: Freda Ruffin, Sally J. Oliver, Wilhelmina (Donald) McIntyre and Sandra Alston of Goldsboro, NC; two brothers: Arnold (Janice) Thornton of Goldsboro, NC and William (Diane) Thornton of Durham, NC, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Thornton and Gladys Strickland and brother, Donald Thornton.
Barbara attended Wayne County Public Schools with the Class of 1954. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Original Tabernacle of Prayer for many years, until her health declined. she was a resident at the Brian Center Nursing & Rehab Center, until she passed away.
Services of compassionate and distinguished class entrusted to J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations of Goldsboro.
The family is receiving friends at the home of her sister, Sandra Alston, 607 S. Pineview Ave., Goldsboro, NC, where they will also assemble in preparation of the funeral procession at 10:15am.
