Ms. Bertha Baker Lewis' Obituary
South Carolina - Ms. Bertha Marie Baker Isler Lewis, 87, formerly of Wayne County, NC, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown, Columbia, SC. The celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 1:00pm with a viewing from 12:00pm to 12:45pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive. Goldsboro, NC. She will be laid to rest at the Wayne Memorial Park North, 1191 Old Grantham Road, Goldsboro, NC.
Bert, as she preferred, attended Central Heights High School until 1951. She was married to the late Roland Isler in 1953 in Wayne County.
She was born on May 3, 1935 in Wayne County, NC to Burl Baker and Rosa Bell Martin Baker. She is survived survived by her five children: Miriam Kornegay (James) of Columbia, Rita Isler of Charlotte, Rickey Isler of Louisiana, Tami Gregory Isler of Virginia and Reginald Isler of Mississippi and one brother, James Lee Baker. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Bert was predeceased by her parents, Rosa and Burl; her husband, Roland; her infant daughter, Pamela; three sons: Melvin Baker, Bland Isler and Donald Isler; three sisters: Eva Jackson, Marjorie Edwards and Ruthie Bee Baker and three brothers: Carl Lee Baker, Robert Lee Baker and John Earl Baker.
