He was born on August 4, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA to Warren Quincy & Cecelia Antoinette Marr. He was father to Karen, David, Matthew & Suzanne, grandfather to Grace and brother to Cecelia.
He received his formal training at the Modern School of Photography - NYC. He was previously employed for Corning Glass Works (Corning, NY), Rutherford Printing (Paterson, NJ), Fascination Graphics (Kent, WA)
Organizations and Memberships: Habitat for Humanity - King County, WA.
His awards, honors and achievements include the U.S. Army Photography – 990th Signal Service Company.
Chas, as he was affectionately known, was a master print-maker (typeset, lithographic and screen) by trade. He served our country during WWII as an Army photographer, technician 4th grade. He was a self-taught mechanical wizard and stained-glass artisan. He lived life guided by his principles, not necessarily conforming to societal dictates. At the age of 57, he reinvented himself by relocating to Washington state. Finding a connection there with Habitat for Humanity, he volunteered his time as a crew member helping to build homes for people in need.
He was a self-professed audiophile with a great music collection. He also took immense pride in his “good” driving. At 80, he relocated again, driving cross-country by himself to settle in the Raleigh, NC area. He was always working on a project or had an idea. He was sensitive and creative. He also loved the outdoors and was active to the very end.
He was compassionate and thoughtful. He was a kind, loving man of integrity and wit. Chas will be greatly missed!
