A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:00pm at the White Oak Baptist Church, 1621 White Oak Church Rd., Apex, NC with the Reverend Charles Tyner officiating. Mr. Mason was born on February 28, 1937 in Wake County, NC to John Henry Mason, Sr. and Blanche Jones. He was married to the late Earlean Carrington Mason in 1968. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 24 years as a flight crew chief. He also faithfully served as a Corrections Officer and retired from the NC Department of Corrections after 22 years. Later on, he would work with the Goldsboro youth as a YMCA Camp counselor and bus driver. His volunteer service would also include dedicating his time to the Wages Meals on Wheels Program. He was committed in his service to others and maintained a stellar reputation of professionalism. He was also a member of the Military Retiree’s Club and Prince Hall Masons. He forever will remain a beloved brother, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his childrren: Deborah (Herman) Foster (Goldsboro, NC), Vianna L. (Leonard) Hightower (Lamarque, TX), Charles S. Mason Jr. (Goldsboro, NC), Carl E. (Christina) Mason Sr. (Washington, DC), and LaShana C. (Eric) Mason (Charlotte, NC). Final dignified care has been entrusted to J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations.
