Smithfield - Deaconess Cora F. Dawson, 72, fought the good fight and kept her faith. On Tuesday night, November 29, 2022 at the SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health, Smithfield, NC, she received her reward. The homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 12:00pm at the Goldsboro-Raleigh District Assembly, 211 West Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, NC. She will be laid to rest at the Westview Cemetery, Hillcrest Road, Kinston, NC. There will be a chapel viewing held on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm in the Nannie D. Loftin Memorial Chapel at Loftin Memorial-J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home, 106 N. East Street, Kinston, NC.
She was born on July 5, 1950 in Lenoir County, NC to John F. Fisher and Doris M. Davis Fisher. She is survived by two children: Wesley (DeMisha) Dawson and Elder Tachala Dawson Hood (Bishop Robert D. Hood) and a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren, other loving relatives and friends.
