Ms. Delores Patricia McKinzie's Obituary
Goldsboro - Ms. Delores J. McKinzie, 81, passed on Friday, May 1, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the celebration of her life will be private for immediate family and friends only.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” Rev. 21:4
Delores Jones McKinzie was born July 15, 1938 in Wayne County, NC to Litman Jones and Jemima Parks Jones. She departed this earthly life on May 1, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Delores attended Wayne County Public Schools. She retired from Cherry Hospital as a Health Care Technician after 30 years of service.
Delores accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and attended New Stoney Hill United Holy Church under Dr. Howard E. McNair, Jr. until her health declined.
Delores was formerly married to James Wellington and later Hiawatha McKinzie (deceased). Delores loved to travel, cook, garden and visit her grandchildren.
Delores was preceded in death by four siblings: Samuel, LaEura, Ernestine and Thomas.
Delores leaves to cherish her wonderous memories to one daughter, Wanda Maddox of Charlotte NC, Gregory Wellington, of Burke, VA, Michael McKinzie of Goldsboro, NC and Ben (Mary) McKinzie of Upper Marlboro, MD; one sister, Laura Turnage (Bruce) of Mt. Olive, NC; one brother, Thurman Jones of Goldsboro, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Gregory, Daniel, Michael Jr., Angela, Ben Jr., and Kamilah; Nephews & Nieces: Terry (Roberta), Darrin (Robin), Robin, Tony & Evette; one niece that preceded her in death, Jean. Delores is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Delores’ friendly disposition won her many friends in Goldsboro & Elm City, NC communities. She shall certainly be missed by all who know her.
