GOLDSBORO Ms. Elnora B. Burney "Big Sis", 95, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at Willow Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00am from the St. Luke Church of Christ DOC Church, 430 E. Elm Street, Goldsboro with Elder David Williams officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Elmwood Cemetery, Goldsboro, NC. There will be a visitation held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm in the J.B. Rhodes Jr. Memorial Chapel of J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations. Ms. Burney was born on August 22, 1917 in Wayne County to the late Emmitt and Irene Flanagan Broadhurst. She is survived by one son, Carl Edwin Burney (Gloria) of Goldsboro, N.C., grandsons, Terry and Carl Jr., siblings, Lera and Elislia, a step-son, Charlie Frank of Washington, D.C and step-daughter, Bertha of Comfort, N.C., and many other loving relatives and friends.
