Emma Lewis was born in Wayne County on May 29, 1927, to the late Johnie Lewis and Mertie Whitfield. She was married to the late William H. Jones, Sr. from 1956-1970.

Emma loved to entertain guests and was hospitable to all who came her way. Her door was always open to welcome you in. She loved to sew and was a skillful seamstress for many years making clothes for herself and others.
Emma lived a life of commitment and purpose. In 1988 she was awarded VIP status and received numerous awards in recognition of outstanding performance and perfect attendance (1988-1993) at Textilease Corporation. She retired in 1993. Not only did she receive recognition on the job, but outside of the job as well.
Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 1Corinthians 4:3
Emma loved serving as an Usher and was faithful in all that she did. To God first, and to the Church as a Minister of the Gospel. She was member of Saint Delight United Holy Church of LaGrange NC where she received her Lay Missionary License 10/21/1969, Missionary Credentials 10/21/1976, Evangelist Credentials 10-21-1996.
Emma was stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as she knew that her labour was not in vain in the Lord. He was her source of strength and life. Now she can say, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
