Goldsboro - Evangelist Ernestine McKoy Rhodes, 82 of 1004 S. Best Street, passed on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC. The celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Read Obituary

Reverend Ernestine M. Rhodes was a outstanding Christian woman who greatly influenced my early development in the Christian faith and in the ministry. As a youth supervisor at Pentecostal Holy Church, she patiently rehearsed with the Youth Choir and skillfully directed the Youth Choir. Outside the church environment, I saw her as a neighborhood celebrity who knew everybody and who could sing for any and all occasions. She was special....."I'm Happy Just to Know that I'm His Child."

May God comfort you during your sorrow.

Evangelist Ernestine McKoy Rhodes, “You have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith: finally there is laid up you the [victor’s] crown of righteousness [for being right with God and doing right], which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to you on that great day—-and not to you only, but also to all those who have loved and longed for His appearing.” For the family, we pray that the God of all comfort will comfort and encourage you in your hour of need.

13 Standing Strong

Sincere condolences and prayers of strength to the Rhodes family in this difficult time.We grew up at The Big Ditch Church (Pentecostal Holy Church). She truly was an asset to the church. She worked in junior missionary departments of the church. She sang in most of the choirs. She was a great soloist, great choir member, choir director, musician and evangelist, She was Church officer both local and denominationally. Generally where ever her hands were needed she was there to help at church or the community in general. She will be missed but she did her 'work while it was day'.
Joyce Carmichael Beckham, send prayers and thoughts to Ernestine's ' daughters . I was happy to see her last year at the Carmichael family reunion. She still had the sweet
spirit that I have always known. She would sing beautiful solos at our family reunions
years ago. I pray for strength for her daughters and that you will take care of each other.
