Sims - Ms. Hattie Veronica Barfield, 76, completed her earthly journey and transitioned from labor to reward, Thursday, May 29, 2025. The celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 12:00pm with a viewing from 11:00am to 11:50am at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC.
She was born on August 2, 1948 in Wayne County, NC to Grover Wellington and Rosa Cox Wellington. survived by her children, Yvette Wellington of Goldsboro, NC, Melvin Barfield of Clayton, NC and Tracy Jones of Pikeville, NC; grandchildren: Quavoris Wellington (Precious), Quadreica Wellington (Reginald), Tavarous Dunn (Tarsha), Bianca Barfield, Melvin Wellington, Eddarious Jones (Kandace), Melvin C Barfield, James Jones, Jr. (Kayla), Melvin Barfield III (Brittne), Jessica Barfield, Isaiah Jones, and Aurelia Barfield; 29 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; her siblings: Jimmy Wellington, Billy Ray Wellington, Grover Wellington, Evelyn Warren and Lanita Coley; brother-in-law, Linwood Thomas, and her companion, Thomas Mitchell. Hattie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other special relatives and friends.
