Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 601 W Elm Street, Goldsboro, NC with Reverend Harold Caldwell officiating. Interment will be in the Old Mill Cemetery. There will be a viewing held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church from 12:00pm until the hour of service. James Charles Bailey, Sr., the son of the late Mary Eliza and Ed Edward Bailey was born in Johnston County, North Carolina on March 10, 1934. James was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Numpy” Bailey, three brothers, William, Rufus and Albert Bailey, and a sister, Lucille Robinson. James was educated in the Johnston County Schools. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. His joy came from spending time with his family. He continued the legacy of providing a nurturing home for the family even after the passing of his wife. His favorite pastimes included storytelling, fishing and spending time at the beach with family. He was a former employee of Celotex Corporation for over 20 years. He was also a foster grandparent for the Wayne County School System. James leaves to cherish his memories his children: Deborah White, Rodney (Debra) Bailey, Pamela (Robyn) Golphin, James (In) Bailey, Jr., and Karen (Steffon) Knox; two sisters, Lila Mae Cates and Lenora Simms; and a brother-in-law, Gene Autry White. He also leaves to cherish his memories 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a special family friend, Patricia “Pumpkin” Dawson. The family will receive friends and family at the home of his daughter, Pamela Golphin, 1606 Tuskeegee Street, Goldsboro, NC.
