Smithfield - Mr. James Edward Croom, 64 of 703 Lassiter Street, passed on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the SECU Hospice House-Johnston, Smithfield, NC. The celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00am at New Christian Fellowship Center, 420 Browntown Road, Snow Hill, NC. He will be laid to rest at the Lodge Hall Cemetery, Hookerton, NC. There will be a viewing held on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with the family arriving to receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC.
He was born on May 1, 1953 in Greene County, NC to Annabelle Freeman and Clarence Croom. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Brooks Croom; children: Tara Perkins, Sean Croom and Vernon Brooks; sisters: Louise Jenkins, Faye Thomas, Jackie Wade, Dee Connor and Louise Barrett and brothers: Roosevelt Dawson, Clarence Croom, Frank Croom and Robert Croom and many other loving relatives and friends.
