I was extremely sadden upon hearing of the passing of Mr. Harris. It's been over 60 years that I met Mr. Harris. I was fourteen and had just lost my mother, the love of my life. I remember Mr. Harris confronting me in my young hour of grief. Although he was th agriculture teacher, I thought he was better suited for being a counselor. Wiliam Mason Coope high didn't have a counselor at that time so Mr. Harris took it upon himself, along with his other duties to provide the guidance that young boys like me so desperately needed. Like other young men, I left Clayton for the war in Vietnam. I think I saw Mr. Harris only one time in those passing years. Now I realize what a mistake that was. Many of the young men that he touched along the way have themselves passed. I thought it fitting and proper that I on behalf of all of the young boys and girls whose life was indeed made better because of Mr. Harris' love for his profession and his love for his students. I hope that the family
finds peace in the weeks to come. May God have mercy on all
