Goldsboro- Mr. James E. "Peanut" Pemberton, 65, completed his earthly journey and transitioned from labor to reward, Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at UNC Medical Center, Chapel Hill, NC. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April Read Obituary

I, on behalf of myself and the classmates of Peanut, would like to send our condolences to the family. I attended high school with Peanut at Southern Wayne Senior High and we graduated in the class of 1975. When I think of Peanut, what I remember most about him is of him on the football field where he seemed to be right at home and in the hallway, he would light-up the entire corridor with his smile. Peanut was a friend to all.

I knew 'Peanut' since he played football in High School. Through the years, whenever he visited, his greeting was, "Hey, what you cook?" He was funny but sincere. May he go with God, and Rest in His Eternal Peace, in Jesus's Name, 🙏🏾

Condolences to the family and all who knew and loved James. I met James at the Y. A very kindhearted man. Take your rest now… You will be missed. Ruby

I am Dan L. Lawson Jr and was a classmate of Peanut at Southern Wayne as we both graduated together. I would like to send my deepest and most sincere condolences to Peanuts family. We had some hilarious times in high school and I was glad to have had him in my life and apart of my memories. I am also glad that I was blessed to have been able to sit and talk with him in our friend Anthony Williams garage several years ago and talk about our high school experiences and share a laugh. God Bless you Peanut and my prayers go out to your family.
Again, this is Dan L. Lawson Jr.
I just learned that James has passed on. I met James at the "Y" in Goldsboro several years ago and always enjoyed talking and laughing with him. Praying that his family will feel the presence of the Lord during this time of grief and draw strength and hope as you trust Him to be your comfort.
