Mr. Jimmie Lee Williams' Obituary
Las Vegas - Mr. Jimmie Lee Williams, 74 formerly of Goldsboro, passed at College Park Rehab Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. There will a celebration of his life held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC. He will be laid to rest at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, NC on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 10:00am.
Jimmie attended both Goldsboro City and Wayne County Schools. He was a very ambitious and industrious young man. Working a part-time job, he was able to purchase his first automobile, before graduating from Central High School in 1963. After high school, he chose a career in the armed services, joining the United States Air Force in 1963. During his many years in active service, Jimmie was an airlift aircraft maintenance technician. Staff Sergeant Jimmie L. Williams received many accolades during his tours of duty. Among them were: the Humanitarian Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Marksmanship, Longevity Service Award, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Following his stint in the military, he matriculated at Wayne Communi ty College in Goldsboro, receiving a diploma in Aviation Technology.
Jimmie loved to entertain. He was a good cook, seemingly specializing in old-fashioned dishes. He also liked photography and certain genres of music. He even tried to master “selfies” and the use of social media.
He was born on April 6, 1945 in Wayne County, NC to Jesse Thomas and Catherine Edwards Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Karen Ann Ballard of Faison, North Carolina. Three sons, Cornelius Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada, Frederic Williams of Goldsboro, NC, and Mauricio Williams of Alexandria, Virginia. One daughter, Tracie Holden (Rodney) of Goldsboro, North Carolina. Two brothers, James E. Williams (Carolyn) of Brookeville, Maryland and Lynwood Ray Williams (Sachiko) of Hayama, Japan; two sisters, Reverend Lillian Williams Lewis of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Joyce
“Ann” Williams Campbell (Steve) of High Point, North Carolina. Ten grandchil dren, four great-grandchildren, a special aunt, Rosie Edwards of Chicago, Illinois, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Charles Thomas Williams, Michael Williams, Renee Michelle Williams, and grandchild, Tatiana Levins-Williams.
