Goldsboro - Brother John Wilbur Everette Sr., 83 of 206 N. Claiborne Street, passed at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 pm. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at St. James AME Zion Church, 203 George Street, Goldsboro, NC with the Reverend Dr. Dwight B. Cannon officiating and Reverend Ronald Miller pastor, presiding. He will be laid to rest in the Everette Memorial Cemetery, Old Smithfield Road. There will be a visitation held on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm with the family present from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the J.B. Rhodes Jr. Memorial Chapel at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations. He was born in Johnston County, NC on March 1, 1931 to Jasper and Effie Bennett. He is survived by: his wife, Edith; four children, Carol (Levi) Dillahunt, Jonise (Ronald) Stallings, John Everette Jr., and Sandra (Rick) Newsome; 12 grandchildren; 7 great- grandchildren; foster brother, Carlton D. Atkinson; foster daughter, JoAnn Daughtry; brother-in-law, Jack (Pearl) Eatmon, and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
