Greenville - Mr. Joseph Smith, 77, passed on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Washington, NC. The celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 3:00pm at Victory Christian Assembly, 4748 Stantonsburg Road, Greenville, NC. There will be a visitation held on Sunday, September 18, 2016, 2:00pm until 2:50pm at the church.
He was born on August 19, 1939 in Kitchings, SC to Joseph Smith & Louise Frazier Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Cora Pettway Smith of the home; six sons: six daughters: Maria Corpen of Oxen Hill, MD, Juanita Alexander of Greenville, NC, Alice Ampley (James) Oak Harbor, Washington, Sandy Riles (Melton) of Virginia Beach, VA, Towanna Turnage (Travis) of German Town, MD and Shakinna Rodgers (Cohen) of New Bern, NC; Randy Smith (Heather) of Queens, NY, Steven Smith (Christina) of Tacoma, Washington, Joseph Smith of Raleigh, NC, Jeremiah Smith (Kia) of Springfield, MD, Emanuel Smith (Cassandra) and Christian Smith both of Greenville, NC; three sisters: Ruby Thomas of Aikens, SC, Mamie Hurse of Queens, NY and Louise Smith of Highlands, NJ; twenty-five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Mamie Pettway of Greenville, NC; five sisters-in-law; ten brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
