Goldsboro - Ms. Joyce Mathis, 61, passed on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC. The celebration of her life will be held graveside on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 12:00pm at the Mathis Cemetery, 2527 W. NC 24 Highway, Warsaw, NC.
She was born on April 5, 1960 in Wayne County, NC to the late Robert Henry Mathis Sr. and Mildred Wooten Mathis. One brother (Larry Donnell Mathis Sr.), one sister (Annie Mildred Mathis) and two sisters-in-law (Athel Stewart Mathis and Annie Delois Best Mathis) preceded her in death.
Joyce Mathis leaves to cherish her memories: Four brothers: Robert Henry (Ruby) Mathis Jr. of Mt. Olive, NC, Thurman Lee (Thomasa) Mathis and William Henry (Beatrice) Mathis of Goldsboro, NC and Wayne (Linda) Mathis of Garner, NC. Four sisters: Shirley Ann Mathis and Ada Ruth Mathis of Goldsboro, NC, Irene (Greg) Carter of Jacksonville, FL and Brenda (John) Kennon of Pink Hill, NC. A sister-in-law: Dollice Sims Mathis of Goldsboro, NC and a special friend (Michael Cole); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
