Mrs. Michelle Anne Hayes' Obituary
Princeton - Mrs. Michelle Anne Hayes, 55 of 115 Trail Ridge Lane, passed on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at home. A memorial service will be held on October 4, 2017 at 2:00pm at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, NC.
She was born on April 9, 1962 in Syracuse, NY to Charles Earl and Barbara Jean Gilmore LeBlanc. She is survived by her loving husband, William M. Hayes; two sons: Shaun Hayes and fiance, Christina Nicole Lancaster and three girls; and Joshua Hayes and wife, Celeste; grandson, Dakota Hayes; mother, Barbara Wallace and husband, James; sister, Catherine and husband Arthur Steinbrecher; brother, Jamie DeCarr; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles E. LeBlanc and two sisters: Lisa DeCarr and Suzanne Cryder.
Michelle was always and advocate for the defenseless. She worked for the Lighthouse Of Wayne County, Inc., a domestic violence and sexual assault program. Later, she began working as a child advocate for the Lenoir County Department of Social Services, until she retired due to health reasons. She earned her associates degree from Wayne Community College, before going on to earn her Bachelor's of Social Work from East Carolina University.
In lieu of flowers, make donations to her husband, William M. Hayes, 115 Trail Ridge Lane, Princeton, NC 27569 to hold in trust and forward for research on her disease, "Inclusion-Body Myositis (IBM)."
