Slocumb St., passed Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. A home going celebration will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at 12Noon at the St. James A.M.E Zion Church. Rev. D.B. Cannon, officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Elmwood Cemetery. She was born November 28, 1925 to the late William and Sarah Gavin in Wayne County. She was the widow of Lee Thomas Dortch and was a lifelong member of St. James A.M.E Zion Church. Mrs. Dortch was a retired educator with the Goldsboro City School System giving 39 years of dedicated and faithful service. She leaves precious memories with one daughter, Renita Dortch, one granddaughter Erika one great-granddaughter, Kamaya and one great-grandson, Charles Nicholas, three sisters and two brothers and a host of other relatives and friends. There will be a viewing held today from 2PM to 6PM in the J.B. Rhodes, Jr. Memorial Chapel. A sympathetic and dignified service entrusted to: J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations.
