Ms. Opal Ireland Taylor's Obituary
Warsaw - Opal Ireland Joyner Taylor, 80 of 1339 South Hwy 117, passed on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC. Born March 27, 1938, in Beautancus, Duplin County, she was the daughter of Julius Oscar and Sarah Opal (Ketscheid) Joyner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leroy Joyner; a husband, Robert Earl Taylor; and a longtime companion, Ben Newsome.
Opal was a devoted mother, who enjoyed baking, fishing, reading and spending time with her family.
She was a Presbyterian, and lived her faith in the simple acts of caring for those around her.
She is survived by a sister, Carolyn (Edgar) Rouse of Warsaw; three children, Julia Garvey of Dudley, Joseph Morris (Sue Davis) of Warsaw and Robert Apgar-Taylor (Rob Apgar) of Hagerstown, Md.; and 10 grandchildren, Siobhan Cotton, Brittany Henderson, Brittany Theirwechter, Caitlyn Rogers, Kayla Geletka, Elizabeth Rouse, Amy Bryant, Samantha Beckwith, Ryan Taylor and Chelsea Peterson. Opal also had 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 19, at 11 a.m. at Joyner Cemetery in Beautancus, N.C. , officiated by her son, the Rev. Dr. Rob Apgar-Taylor.
