Goldsboro - Mrs. Parthenia "Polly" Artis, 81, passed on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro, NC. The celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 12:00 noon in the J.B. Rhodes Jr. Memorial Chapel at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC. She will be laid to rest in the New Spruill Cemetery, Bartlett Road, Pikeville, NC. There will be a viewing held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 11:00am to 11:50am at the funeral home.
She was born on April 20, 1939 in Greene County, NC to Richard Ann Wooten and Emanuel “Bud” Newborn. She leaves to cherish her loving memories of 61 years of union, her husband, Lionel Artis Sr. of Goldsboro, North Carolina: Son, Alvin Keith (Cyndi) Artis of Lawndale, CA: Sister, Grace Calhoun of White Plains, NY: Grandchildren, Terrence Lionell (Terri) Artis of Cumming, GA, Daniel Keith Artis of Culver City, CA: Great-Grandchild, James Baker Mahaffey-Artis of Cumming, GA: Special Nieces, Patricia Calhoun-Young of White Plains, NY, Velma Becton-Bowens of Kinston, NC, Janice Hathaway of Goldsboro, NC: Godson, Antron Williams of Zebulon, NC: Close Friends, Bishop Charles J. & Linda Faye Williams of Goldsboro, NC, Alma Whitfield of Goldsboro, NC, and Mildred Britt of Goldsboro, NC: four brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
