Goldsboro - Ms. Peggy Jean Mervin, 79 of 3535 Thoroughfare Road, passed on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC. The celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 12:00pm at New Stoney Hill United Holy Church, 1003 Poplar Street, Goldsboro, NC with Dr. Howard E. McNair officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Holly Hill Cemetery, 2031 Paul's Path Road, Kinston, NC. There will be a viewing held Monday, November 20, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations of Goldsboro, NC.
She was born on March 14, 1938 in Lenoir County, NC to William and Mattie Poole King. She is survived by her children: Johnny (Betty) Mervin of Virginia Beach, VA, Yvonne Mervin of Goldsboro, NC, Marvin (Marcia) Mervin of Fayetteville, NC, Gloria Mervin Gilchrist of Kinston, NC and Sabrena (James) Mervin-Blake of Durham, NC; one sister, Mary Elizabeth King Mervin of Kinston, NC; three brothers: James King of Denver, CO, Lemuel King and Louis King of Maryland; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
