Mr. Richard Arthur Brodie's Obituary
Goldsboro - Mr. Richard A. Brodie, 59 of 414 N. Claiborne Street, passed on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at home. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 3:00pm in the J.B. Rhodes Jr. Memorial Chapel at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC.
Richard Arthur Brodie was born July 1, 1959 in Henderson, North Carolina to the late Arthur and late Cornethia Cooper Brodie. On Saturday, September 22, 2018 he departed his earthly life at his home.
“Ricky” as he was affectionately known, was baptized at an early age and joined St. Andrews United Christian Church in Henderson, NC.
“Ricky” attended Vance County Public Schools and was a graduate of Vance Senior High School Class of 1978. After graduating from high school, he went to Shaw University on a scholarship in Raleigh, NC and later transferred to NC A&T University in Greensboro, NC before migrating to Wayne County, North Carolina. While in Wayne County, NC “Ricky” worked with Budweiser and other companies as a Sales Representative, traveling up and down the East Coast coordinating and delivering different products.
Shortly after settling in Wayne County, NC “Ricky” met and married Sharon Brinson. “Ricky” was a faithful quiet servant to those throughout his community. He was a true lover of sports. He played sports in high school and for the community league. He loved watching sports on TV or reading the sports section of the Newspaper. “Ricky” had a passion for cooking in which he inherited from both of his parents. Although “Ricky” was a quiet, humble man, his presence was powerful. He affected the lives of many people knowingly and unknowingly.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Sharon Brinson Brodie, his step-daughter, Tracey Brinson; his sisters, Frances Jordan of Framingham, Mass; Janette (Johnny) Roberts of Bridgeport, Conn; Debra Ann (John) Harris of Henderson, NC; Garnetta (Joe) Pressley of Florence, SC; Mary Annie Brodie of Raleigh, NC. Brothers: Johnnie Gordon and Evans Lee Gordon of Richmond, Va; Michael Brodie of Durham, NC; AJ (Lauren) Brodie of Charlotte, NC; Jonathan Brodie of Parkersburg, WV; Ray Carroll of Louisburg, NC; and a host of nephews; nieces; cousins; and friends.
