Goldsboro - Coach Robert Ozenia Hawkins, 89 of 400 S. Claiborne Street, passed on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center , Goldsboro, NC. The celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 12:30pm at Greenleaf Christian Church DOC, 2110 N. William Street, Goldsboro, NC. There will be a viewing held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 11:30am until 12:30am at the church. He will be laid to rest on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10:00am at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, NC.
Coach Hawkins, was known to be an effective coach, a teacher that taught thousands of kids in the school system at Dillard & Goldsboro High School in Goldsboro, NC, as well Danville, Kentucky. He was born on August 14th , 1927 in Danville, Kentucky to Anthony Hawkins and Susie Higgins Hawkins. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Barnes Hawkins of the home and children.
