Mrs. Rose Marie Griffin's Obituary
Pikeville, NC- Rose Marie Griffin went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, after 68 years of life. A viewing will be held from 2pm-7 pm at J. B. Rhodes Funeral Home on May 18, 2015. Funeral services will be held at Heavenly Gates Funeral Home in Shreveport, Louisiana. She will be laid to rest in the Caldwell Cemetery in Louisiana.
Mrs. Griffin was born in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, on February 2, 1947 to John D. Gay and Nina Mae Gay of Plain Dealing, Louisiana. She was married to John Charles Griffin for over 45 years.
After retiring as a supervisor of Northwest State School in Bossier City, LA, Mrs. Griffin moved to North Carolina to be with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Griffin was a long time dedicated member of Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, LA were she served as a Sunday school teacher. Later in life she was an active member of New Life World Outreach Center in Snowhill, NC. She enjoyed shopping, girls’ day out, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband, John; two daughters Sharona (Darrick) of Goldsboro, NC, Karmashia Bartee of Pikeville, NC, and a son Michael Griffin, who preceded her in death. She also leaves a beautiful legacy of grandchildren – Cydney, Chelsea, Mikela, and great-grand-daughter Paisley. One sister – Teresa Gay of Houston, Texas, also survives her. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. The life Mrs. Griffin led inspired others. She thanked God for her life daily and made each day a little brighter for everyone she knew.
