Ms. Shirley Tate Grady's Obituary
Dudley - Ms. Shirley Tate Grady, transitioned to her new heavenly home at the age of 83 years old, on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC.
Shirley was born in Mount Olive, NC on October 22, 1936 to William and Frances Tate. She dedicated her entire life to her family and emphasized the importance of family get togethers for holidays and celebrations.
She is survived by two brothers: Earnest Tate and Bernest (Betty) Tate; eight children: Teresa "Gail" (Mozelle) Vann, Stephen (Kim) Grady Jr., Denise (Bernard) Kearse, Reginald (Shon) Grady, Lorice (Milton) Smith, Donnell Grady, Christopher Grady and LaQuanta (DeMarquis) Hobbs; nineteen grandchildren: Tomeico "Tasha" (Wayne) Faison, Shonta "Shon" (Otis) Simmons, Aliyah and Ariana Hobbs, Stepheia and Stephen (Hiawetha) Grady the third, Michael (Keasha) and Leslie Kearse, Shon (Frank) Clanton, Tyrell, Tyree and Reginald Jr Grady, Brittany and Breanna Smith, Donmaneca, Tavares and Chris Grady, Mikayla, Jalen and Kaelin Grady and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Shirley was known for her gardening and green thumb, humor, caring spirit and homemade delicious meals. One of her favorite scriptures was Psalm 23 as she often proclaimed, "Don't worry about me when I leave this side. I know where I am going."
Due to COVID-19, the family held a private memorial service. The family is thankful for the thoughts and prayers during this time and ask that donations be sent to the NC Food Bank in lieu of flowers.
