Raised in West Point Ga, she attended 10th Street Elementary School and Harrison High School. After high school, she married and started a family; with her first husband, she had three children. She later remarried and had two more children.
Sophia Ruth liked helping people as evidenced by her work choices and generosity. Primarily a homemaker, she also worked as a counselor for the intellectually disabled, a health aide and as a housing custodian on several military installations. She donated to several charities for children and veterans when she could. She gave to the March of Dimes, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Sophia Ruth,a.k.a “Glamor Girl” had a good sense of humor, rarely turned down an opportunity to dance and celebrate. The reason for agathering and celebration did not matter to her. She loved to talk, tell different stories of her life, laugh, and enjoy the company of family, friends and loved ones. She also enjoyed receiving the Word, watching NFL football, fishing, gardening and cooking.
