Goldsboro - Deacon Thomas Uzzell Sr., 77,completed his earthly assignment and transitioned from labor to reward, on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at home surrounded by his loved ones. The Celebration of his Life will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 12:00pm with a viewing from 11:00am to 11:50am at Goldsboro-Raleigh District Assembly (GRDA), 211 West Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, NC . There will be a visitation on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC. He will be laid to rest at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 12:00pm.
Deacon Thomas was born November 18, 1946 in Wayne County to Mr. James Uzzell and Mrs. Alberta Worrells Uzzell. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Deborah Jones Uzzell; two sons: Travis Uzzell of the home and Thomas Uzzell Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.; one daughter-in-law, Shannon Uzzell; three grandchildren: Zaria, Jarred and Thomas III; one great grandson, Trenton; sisters: Lillie and Bettie; brother, Jimmy: sister-in-law, Dorothy and a very special niece, Bridgette.
Deacon Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Jr.; sister, Addie; daughter-in law, Natoya.
