Tina Elveta Melvin's Obituary
Goldsboro Ms. Tina Elveta Melvin, of 233 Bunche Drive, passed away Friday morning, December 21, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. A graveside celebration of her life will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 2:00pm in the Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 US Hwy 117 South, Dudley, NC, with Reverend Winford Galmon officiating, followed by her interment. She was born on November 16, 1928 in Greene County, NC to Caldwell and Sarah Jane Yelverton Edwards. Ms. Melvin was the first African-American Claims Analyst for the Goldsboro Social Security Administration Office, from which position she retired after 27 years of dedicated service. Ms. Melvin was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Melvin. She is survived by six children: Sondra Thomas (Samuel) of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Stanley Melvin (Paula) of Kinston, North Carolina, Stuart Melvin (Stephanie) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Stephen Melvin (Teresa) of Aurora, Colorado, Sidney Melvin (Valerie) of Cal City, California, and Shelton Melvin of Austin, Texas, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends.
