Mr. Wilbert Isler's Obituary
Goldsboro- Mr. Wilbert Isler, 92, completed his earthly journey and transitioned from labor to reward, Monday, June 3, 2024 at Transitions Life Care Hospice Home, Raleigh, NC . The Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, June 12 , 2024 at 11:00 Graveside at Wayne Memorial Park North 1191 Old Grantham Rd. Goldsboro, NC.
Wilbert Isler was born on September 26, 1931, in Wayne County, North Caroline to the late John William and Della Uzzell Isler. He was the seventh of eight children and was the spoiled baby of the family. In November 1966, while living in Goldsboro, he met and married Mary Magdalene Grantham. To this union two children were added, Sonya Renee Isler and Ronald Grantham.
Throughout his lite he worked for many years at JP Taylors Tobacco Company and Pepsi Cola Bottling Company as a truck driver and lineman. During the 70's after work, he enjoyed walking on James Street (The Block) and reminiscing with friends after work. His hobbies included walking, listening to Charlie Pride and other country music lyrics, reading the newspaper, listening to the radio and talking on the phone to family and friends.
He was called home on June 3, 2024, after a courageous battle with infection. He is survived by his wife, Mary Grantham Isler of Raleigh NC; a daughter, Sonya Renee Isler of Youngsville, NC; son, Ronald L. Grantham (Jackie) of Goldsboro. He is also survived by a son, Dorsey Montgomery (Toya) of Charleston, SC; a daughter, Claudia M. Grady of Goose Creek, SC; two sisters in laws, Helena G. Wells of Philadelphia, Penn; and Joyce G. Davis of New York; and a host of nieces. nephews, other relatives and friends.
