Mr. Willie Clinton Yelverton Jr.'s Obituary
Goldsboro - Mr. Willie C. Yelverton Jr., 78, completed his earthly walk of life on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Genesis HealthCare Center, Mt. Olive, NC. Willie Jr., commonly known to family and friends as “June” or “Pork Chop” was born on October 3, 1944, in Stantonburg, North Carolina to the late Willie C. Yelverton, Sr. and Charlotte Ruth Artis Yelverton.
June attended Wayne County Public Schools and joined St. Mark Church Faro N.C. In 1962, he graduated from Norwayne High School in Fremont, N.C. before entering the United States Air Force. He worked many jobs but was well known as a handyman, mechanic, and truck driver. He married the late Ruth Brown Yelverton in 1964. Of this union, two daughters were born Milissa and Michelle Yelverton of Louisville, Kentucky. In the 1980s, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia for work and had a son, Willis C. Harris of St. Petersburg, Florida.
June leaves to mourn his children, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn, two sisters, Janice Wilder (Bill) of Tryon, N.C. and Cynthia J. Yelverton of Clayton, N.C.; his two paternal aunts Clarice Sears
(Bobby) of Washington, D.C. and Pennie J. Sherrod of Bluffton, S.C.; one maternal uncle Gene Ray Artis of Washington, D.C.; three nieces, one nephew, and a host of other relatives and friends.
In honoring his departed wishes to be cremated, the family has agreed not to hold a funeral/memorial service. His remains will be delivered to the immediate family—his children.
