Dudley - Mr. Dexter J. Evans, 50, passed on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health, Smithfield, NC. The celebration of his life will be limited to 50 people due to COVID-19 restrictions, on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 1:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC. He will be laid to rest at the First Congregational UCC Cemetery, Old Mt. Olive Hwy, Dudley, NC. There will be a public viewing held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC. The service will be live streamed via the J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations Facebook page.
He was born on January 6, 1970 in Wayne County, NC to the late Jasper Devey "JD" Evans and Shirley Waters Evans. He is survived by his mother, Shirley W. Evans; two brothers: Virgil Norris of Charlotte, NC and Jansen D. Evans (Felicia) of Alexandria, VA ; one sister, Kateena Evans Simmons of Asheville, NC; five nieces and nephews, Ashley, Jaspree and Taylor Evans and Joshua and Justin Simmons; a close cousin and comrade, Mr. Anthony Wynn, and his best friend Dr. Carol H. Artis; and loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
