Ms. Hazel Ann White's Obituary
Goldsboro - Ms. Hazel Ann White, 83, peacefully journeyed to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro, NC. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00am at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC.
Hazel Ann White was born July 15, 1941 in Goldsboro NC to the parents of Mrs. Lillie Mae Edwards and Mr. James Edwards in Goldsboro, NC.
She attended primary and secondary grade school in Goldsboro and graduated from Dillard High School in 1959. Hazel relocated to New Haven, Conn where she married Henry White. They became the proud parents of 3 sons, Shelton White of Detroit, Mich., Henry White, Jr of Springfield, Mass., and Azeem Rahman who resides in Charlotte, NC and 1 daughter, Cheryl White of New Haven, Conn.
Hazel relocated to Goldsboro and was employed for 20+ years at HGDC Community Crisis on Slocumb St. While there, she developed many friendships and acquaintances with co-worker as well as with individuals who visited the center in need of assistance. She was a sensitive spirit and a listening ear, always ready and willing to listen, pray for and help those who were in need.
Hazel accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and later received the call to ministry. She was ordained as a minister by Pastor Timothy Dortch of Word of Truth Christian Fellowship of Goldsboro, NC. As an ordained minister, she devoted herself to prayer, studying, teaching, discussing and listening to the Word of God either in worship services, on the radio or on TV. She was later called to membership at Calvary Chapel in Clayton, NC. Some of Hazel’s favorite past times were cooking, decorating, reading and caring for family and friends. Her favorite food- you guessed it, Seafood.
Hazel was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. George Edwards, Sr. and Mrs. Lillie Mae Edwards; her sisters, Hilda G. Pate (Matthew) and Gloria Raibon (Sydney); her brothers Ralph Edwards, George W. Edwards, Eddie Carrol Foxworth, Benjamin Maybanks and Joseph Maybanks; her aunts, Annabelle Blackman, Essie Hill and Josephine Manuel; her uncle, James Manuel; and her grandson, Brandon White.
Left to celebrate Hazel’s life are her 3 sons: Shelton White, Henry White, Jr. and Azeem Rahman and her daughter, Cheryl White. She has 6 grands: Kamilah , Kamaal, Mona, Brandi, N’dasia and Henry, 3rd, , as well as 2 great grands: Adonis, Adara and Elijah, and there are also a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lord, we thank You for the loan of this precious, beloved gift to us, the gift of Hazel Ann White.
