Mr. Simon Oates Jr.'s Obituary
Calypso - Mr. Simon Oates Jr., 59 of 317 N. 4th Street, passed unexpectedly from injuries received from an accident on August 4, 2015 at home. The celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Association Headquarters, 1800 S. Slocumb Street, Goldsboro, NC. He will be laid to rest in the Wynn Cemetery, Mt. Olive, NC. There will be a visitation held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm with the family arriving to receive friends from 6:00pm until 7:00pm in the J.B Rhodes Jr. Memorial Chapel at J.B Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations.
He was born on January 1, 1956 in Duplin County, NC to Simon Oates and Bernice Hill Oates. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Faye Boseman Oates; son, Travis Vontrell Oates (Iris); daughter, Simone Nicole Oates, two grandchildren, Josiah V. Oates and Aja-Amaya O. Oates, three sisters and three brothers.
