Mr. Ulysses Edward Bowden's Obituary
Mt. Olive – Mr. Ulysses E. Bowden, 84 of 705 S. Breazeale Ave., passed on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at home. The celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 1:00pm at Winn Chapel Church, 110 Smith Street, Mt. Olive, NC. He will be laid to rest at the Carver Memorial Park, Breazeale Ave. Mt. Olive, NC with full military honors. There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations with the family arriving to receive friends from 5:00pm until 6:00pm. He will lie in state from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the church, at the family's request, there will not be a public viewing after the service.
He was born on March 28, 1932 in Wayne County, NC to Harry Edward Bowden and Lillie Mae Ward Bowden. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Evelyne Beulke J. Bowden. Two daughters, Amber Bowden, an Operations Director in Santa Rosa, CA and Yvonne Bowden-Parker, retired Army (C. Victor Parker) of Baltimore, MD; one grandson, Victor Malik Parker, and additional family includes, Ulysses Edward Harris (Debbie) and their 6 children of Raleigh, NC and numerous cousins and friends.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952, where he served for 20 years. In 1980, he opened his own florist, "Ulysses Florist", which he ran until 2004.
